The team at NomaDesk have been doing a lot of work to release the latest version of their popular product. NomaDesk version 3.0 has really delivered some great enhancements to an already great product.

The key major features of this include:

  • even faster file upload and download sync times
  • enhancements to the TheftGuard data protection system
  • even simpler user interface

How does NomaDesk work?

NomaDesk works by using a virtual file server network system to allow you to create a file server that looks and acts just like a more traditional file server. Essentially the NomaDesk client creates an encrypted area on your computer. When you log into NomaDesk your file area is encrypted and mounted as a new drive letter.

Any file that you save to the new drive is synchronized to the NomaDesk virtual file server.

What makes NomaDesk different?

NomaDesk have identified the key areas of security, availability and support as their key difference to the other major competitors in the marketplace. Your files are secure on your laptop or computer. If your  computer gets stolen the thief will not even know that your files are there. If they somehow manage to get your NomaDesk login details you can activate the data shredder and destroy the files that are on the stolen computer.

Thats pretty good. If you ask me.

NomaDesk is a business grade product, providing support to its users. The pricing structure is $15 USD a month for a team virtual file server and $50 USD per year for a personal virtual file server.

Who would get the best out of NomaDesk?

NomaDesk is aimed at small groups of people who work with other people remotely. If you travel around, work from home then it is a great solution. Your data is backed up off site. It can easily be shared or accessed from anywhere, thanks to the web client as well.

What is even better is you treat it like any other drive? so you don’t need to change the way you work.

I personally think the NomaDesk product is the right blend of functionality and security.

Like I always say, the best way to see if something works with your methods and will do what you want is to just try it.
