Google has bowed to demands by the German Government over privacy demands for its Street View product which is about to launch.

Under the agreement people can apply to have their faces, car number plates and any other identifying features wiped from the raw data captured by Google. Although it does also note that as the data is stored in the United States that it will be very difficult to actually verify that the data has been wiped.

It is interesting that countries like Germany and Greece are prepared to stand up for the privacy of its people, while the majority of the English speaking world is doing its best to erode them.
