MokaFive has released version 2 of their MokaFive suite. MokaFive was designed as a Desktop-as-a-Service (DAAS) platform for small to medium enterprises. Offering a tailored option in the hosted MokaFive Service so they don’t have to deal with deploying a server, maintenance and upgrades. This is a great option for small businesses who simply do not have the time or technical resources to manage their IT environments.

The MokaFive suite goes that step further now offering a scalable and fully managed product for large enterprises. Not only providing fully contained virtual machines called LivePC’s but also the ability to deliver applications to these Live PC’s. These virtual machines are cached and run locally.

I have talked about MokaFive previously as well.

The features that MokaFive provide are:

  • Active Directory Integration
  • Simple installation
  • Rapid user provisioning
  • Slim transfer
  • Rich Policies
  • Self Healing
  • User Personality Persistence

The MokaFive implementation is really quite interesting. Simply install the client, cache a livePC and get started. This sort of tool is perfect for adhoc virtual machine and testing environments as well as general use computing.

The ability to have both self healing and user setting persistence is ideal.

Have a look at the walk through video.

If you are a Linux shop they are a perfect choice for your desktop management.

It certainly is an easy product to use and warrants further investigation if you are looking at desktop virtualization projects in the future.
